Microsoft Office 2003 Install Not Working On Vista
It initially came with Office 2003. I am trying to take my MS OFfice 2003 applications over to my new laptop from my old via USB stick. I assume they are sending me a Word 2003 document. Office 2010Support ends 13-Oct-2020 Compatible (both 32-bit and 64-bit editions). click site

You didn't say what happens when you try to open a document or what error message is produced, so I'll have to make some wild guesses. In case of reinstallation, it might violate the original purpose of the license hence Microsoft keeps the registry after the uninstallation process.
